This wasn't the picture I had in mind when I left the house. It was a night of limitations. First off, my Hahnel Giga T Pro wireless shutter release wouldn't work past 2m. It claims to have a 100m range, but this was the third time it wouldn't work past 2-3m. On top of the shutter release sucking donkey balls, my SU-800 couldn't fire my flash units about 15m away. Being IR, I knew this could be a possibility so I wasn't as upset compared to the Hahnel failings. In the end I had to make some serious compromises and nothing turned out as expected.
The next day, figured out an alternative to both the wireless release and the SU-800. Picked up some Pocket Wizard Plus IIIs plus some SB-910s after trading in my SB-700s and SU-800. There was nothing wrong with the SB-700s, and I wouldn't recommend anyone to get rid of them, they're fantastic speedlights. The reason I did is in order to get PocketWizards to work with them, you need a compatible shoe plus another wire for each speedlight, and the idea of more cables and parts in my bag influenced the decision. I spent money to simplify a situation.
