This year I'm going to attempt a 52 week project where every week I take some form of a self portrait. The plan is to get them as varied as possible. I'd like to get a full gamut of everything in here.
For this first week there's a hat themed challenge at PWO contests. Over a year ago my mother in-law purchased this hat as a gift and I think I've worn it twice. What a perfect opportunity to blow the dust of it.
This is a three flash setup. There's a large 4'x6' screen behind me lit with two flashes behind it and one flash to my left modified with an umbrella. At times these self portraits are difficult only because you can't see where the camera is focusing and you can't always see the angles you're presenting to the camera. Next time I would alter the angle of the shadows cast by my chin by extending it out a little. That would create a more prominent jawline which I'm currently lacking here.
